A fairly mixed bag this month, especially in the wild world of 'the art' including Pauline Baynes (85), the British illustrator best known for her work in The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings, Japanese manga artist Fujio Akatsuka, 72, Gary Mooney, 78, American animator famous for working on Sleeping Beauty, Lady and the Tramp and George of the Jungle) plus
Jack Kamen, 88, EC comic book artist who worked on such titles as Tales from the Crypt and The Vault of Horror.
Groove-some Robert Hazard, the man behind the Cyndi Lauper classic Girls Just Want to Have Fun bopped his clogs last month too as did Judson Taylor, best known for his directorial work on 1960s television classics such as Star Trek, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Mannix as well as playing Goff in The Great Escape.
Ex Bosley Bernie Mac died at the age of 50 as did his Soul Men co-star, bad ass Truck Turner himself, Isaac Hayes, 65. The movie's other star, Samuel L Jackson is currently in hiding.
On the cult teevee front well known background face Terence Rigby, John Esmonde, half of Esmonde and Larbey writing team that gave us the best of Please Sir! and The Good Life died as did Mr. Gordon, the town clerk of Walmington-on-Sea, actor Eric Longworth.
Stateside saw the death of Jeffery Neill MacKay the chubby character actor best remembered as Magnum's friend Mac on Magnum P.I., plus roles on Battlestar Galactica, Airwolf, Transformers and Tales of the Gold Monkey.
Finally was the very sad news of the death of almost seventh Doctor and all round genius/mentalist Ken Campbell.
